Re: U15 and U16 boys spring plans/teams
On behalf of the TGSC coaching staff, I want to congratulate all of our players on making their respective high school teams. We wish you all the best of luck as you compete for your schools this fall. As we look forward to the upcoming club season, we want to update you on our plans for the U15/U16 boys age groups.
Our plan is to field three teams at the U15/U16 age groups. We envision selecting a first team of U15/U16 players to compete in the U16 MRL league and carefully selected tournaments. The second team will likewise be a combined U15/U16 team that will compete in the highest U16 SLYSA division possible and carefully selected tournaments. The third team will be comprised of U15 players and will compete in the U15 SLYSA league and carefully selected tournament play.
All U15 and U16 players will compete in either State Cup (first team and second team) play or President’s Cup (third team) at the conclusion of the spring season. State Cup/President’s Cup rosters will not be determined until the end of the spring season and they may not be the same as the spring regular season rosters in the interest of giving all players an opportunity to compete for the State Cup roster spots.
While, based on the numbers we have at present and commitments received to date, we do anticipate having a spot for every U15/U16 player who attended tryouts and/or was otherwise invited to play, we will NOT finalize the first, second and third team rosters until AFTER the high school season has ended. We want to see how players progress through the fall. We’ll get everybody together for another look after the high school season to see where everyone stands in order to make final player placement decisions.
At this time it is important that every player who intends to play for TGSC in the spring firm up his commitment by turning in a player packet (available from the club office) AND paying the required club fee by September 15. If you still owe club or team fees from last year, those must be paid in full as well. If the club does not receive a completed player packet, all past due fees and the spring season club fee payment, we will assume you are NOT returning and we will NOT hold a spot for you, no exceptions. (Important caveat: the foregoing plans are subject to change depending on actual player commitments received)
We look forward to seeing you in November after the high school season ends… times and dates TBA.
