Tony Glavin SC Welcomes Coach Jake Alvernia to Our HS Boys Program!

The Tony Glavin Soccer Club is excited to announce, Jake Alvernia, as an addition to the coaching staff.  Coach Alvernia will help assist the high school program at TGSC and also be the head coach of the 2002 boys. Coach Alvernia has been the Head Men’s Coach at Missouri Baptist for six seasons. Under Alvernia’s guidance, the Spartans have qualified for the AMC postseason tournament five times in the past six seasons. This past season he guided the team to the AMC Tournament Championship to claim a spot in the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in school history.  In 2017, Missouri Baptist advanced to the tournament semifinals after upsetting top-seeded William Woods in the quarterfinals.

In 2017, Alvernia was also an assistant coach with the St. Louis Lions in the USL PDL.

 Alvernia played locally for McCluer High School, where he was named to the First Team All-Conference as well as the North All-Star Team in 1991. He played one season for the University of Missouri-St. Louis at the NCAA DII level before transferring to Missouri Baptist where he competed for two more seasons in 1995 and 96.
